How Much Upstart Epoxy Do I Need?

Upstart Epoxy epoxy calculator will help you determine how much epoxy resin is needed to build your next project!

      Project Length - Inches:
      Project Width - Inches:
      Pour Depth:
      Volume:
      Gallons Required:

Measuring our epoxy can be a tricky thing. We get asked all the time “how much epoxy do I need?” And that changes depending on each and every project.

Knowing the amount of product required is crucial before starting your project. Once Part A and Part B are combined, the curing process begins and you have a limited amount of working time before the epoxy hardens.

But don’t worry, we’ve put together an epoxy calculator that will help you understand exactly what you need, for whatever project you’re working on.

How much epoxy do I need?

The simple answer: Measure the length, width, and depth of your project in inches. Then put those numbers into the resin calculator above.

How much epoxy resin do I need for a river table?

By using our epoxy resin calculator, you can identify the correct amount of deep-pour epoxy resin for your river table project.

First have your tape measure ready, you will need to find the length of the pour, the width of the pour, as well as the depth of your pour - take all of these measurements in inches.

Once you have those three measurements, add them into our resin calculator, and then you’ll have that magic number!

One last tip while using the river table epoxy calculator above, always round up and give yourself extra epoxy to work with.

How much epoxy do I need for a seal coat?

Upstart Epoxy’s formula is FDA Food Safe, UV resistant, and water resistant, which makes it the number one choice when sealing up and putting a finish on any project.

But understanding how much tabletop resin you need depends on how large your surface is. In inches, take the length, width, and the depth of your pour (when you’re sealing a tabletop this is generally 1/8in).

Take those measurements and plug them into the calculator above. From there you’ll have the answer to the million dollar question “how much resin do I need?”

Tips and tricks to save some epoxy

It’s always better to err on the side of having 20% more epoxy than your project needs. That doesn’t mean you have to use it all. We’ve put together a few tips to help you control your epoxy use, now that you know exactly how much epoxy you need from the epoxy calculator.

      1. Use a mold for your project: When working with a project like a river table, it is crucial that you seal all of your edges so that no epoxy goes to waste.
      2. Wait to pour until you’re ready: Make sure that you have confirmed your measurements and used the epoxy calculator before your pour. This will ensure you don’t spend your working time with the epoxy measuring, you’ll be able to go right into your pour.
      3. Scrape the sides of your cup when mixing: The last thing you want is to ruin a whole batch of epoxy. Scrape the sides of your cup while mixing to ensure that you don’t waste epoxy, and that you get the exact amount the epoxy calculator directed.

I'm a newbie to the resin world. Even with my mistakes with the process it all turned out good. Large 1st ever project. 106in x 19in. Deep pour worked great. Thank you for the great product.

      First project using epoxy!

So I was excited and very nervous doing this tabletop. My first epoxy project a River pour with a size of 88”x 38”. Of course I used the Mica powder also. The instruction video was very informative. The Deep Pour Epoxy was easy to mix and pour. The fact that in takes time for it to cure is great you don’t have to rush the process. The fact the ratio for the Deep Pour is 2 to 1 makes it easy to mix. The top coat seal pour was easy as well with the 1to 1 ratio. The project turned out awesome and I would definitely recommend Upstart Epoxy to anyone.

PS there is no odor either to worry about!
